Save Money: Affordable Makeup Alternatives

Save Money: Affordable Makeup Alternatives

Is your New Year's Resolution to spend wiser and save money? Many #beautyaddicts know makeup is not a cheap hobby. For many, it's a passion that can definitely put a huge dent in your pocket weekly and monthly.

Well, what am I good for if I don't offer solutions to this expensive problem. Here's a list of fantastic faves and recommendations from my gorgeous gal pals and makeup gurus! These beauty influencers, models, and makeup artists swear the more affordable alternatives work just as well as their much pricier counterparts.

Luminous Foundation.jpg

For a soft and luminous coverage liquid foundation, Nikki AND Angie love L'Oréal Lumi Healthy Luminous ($13) because it covers and works just as well as Armani Luminous Silk ($64).

High Coverage Foundation.jpg

For a full coverage, Ivana adores Wet n' Wild Photo Focus Foundation ($5) that she swears is extremely similar to Dermablend Cover Creme Full Coverage Foundation ($39). She also loves that Wet n' Wild even managed to cover dark spots just as well as Dermablend due to its thicker consistency. Since both foundations cover extremely well, they can be used as concealers too. But with a $34 difference, you can't help but play favorites!

Liquid Highlighters.jpg

Another recommendation by Nikki is Makeup Revolution Liquid highlighters in Starlight or Unicorn Elixir ($9). They are very similar to Cover FX Moon Drops ($42). You will definitely highlight like a pro at a fraction of the investment.

Highlight Powders.jpg

For powder highlighters, Alexandra loves Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighters ($6). They are extremely pigmented, ridiculously cheap, and even more pigmented than Anastasia Beverly Hills compact highlighters ($28).

Translucents.jpg

Makeup Revolution makes the list again with their Translucent Pressed Powder ($8) which can be purchased at Ulta. Krystal has found that this setting powder rivals with the popular designer's alternative Laura Mercier's Loose Powder ($38). While Makeup Revolution is not necessarily better, you just get so much more bang for your buck.

Liquid Suede.jpg

Another absolute favorite by Angie is the NYX Liquid Suede Lipsticks ($7). She assures that they are the closest to the Liquid Lipsticks by Anastasia Beverly Hills or Kat Von D ($20). NYX's formula is lightweight and their nude shades are untouchable.

Matte Lipstick.jpg

NYX Lipsticks is also loved by Alexandra. The London-based MUA loves the Soft Matte Lip Creams ($7) because they're amazing and budget-friendly. She believes that they can successfully replace Huda Beauty's Matte Liquick Lipsticks ($20).

Lipliners.jpg

NYX Cosmetics continue to reign because they offer so many different products at such an affordable price. Their Lip Liners ($4) glide on soft and creamy and are perfect bases for any lipstick. They are great affordable alternatives to the uber popular MAC's Pencil Lip Liners ($18). Krystal and I agree that we love NYX slightly more because when we lose these darn liners, it doesn't hurt as much! :D

Brushes.jpg

Many of my makeup addict friends will tell you that having good tools is essential in achieving the look you want. Marina finds that the more affordable Morphe brushes to be just as awesome as the MAC ones, which has been favorites for many professional MUAs. However, with a much more affordable price tag, Morphe rules with sets starting at $20 versus 1 MAC brush ranges from $20-35.

Makeup Removers.jpg

Last but not least, you'll always need a good remover after playing and slaying in your makeup all day. When she's done with her modeling shoots, Ivana relies on Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towlettes ($8). She switched to Neutrogena after many years of using Bye Bye 3-in-1 Makeup Melting Balm ($38.00). While she still likes the balm because it really does dissolve all of your makeup so you aren’t left with trace amounts, the Neutrogena Towlettes do the exact same thing and leave your face with a moisturizing oil that won’t clog pores or cause breakouts.

To all you budget-friendly babes, enjoy the list! I found new products that I am definitely curious to try out myself like the Makeup Revolution highlighters and Morphe brushes. Can't thank my beauty experts enough. Be sure to follow them on Instagram!
