2021 Makeup Tips and Trends by Gerard Cosmetics

The new year has begun. To discuss top beauty trends in 2021, we asked the Gerard Cosmetics’ Founder Jen Gerard to gain some insights on what’s ahead.

Gerard Cosmetics is a LA based cosmetics brand that pushes the makeup envelope with innovative formulas and beloved colors that have attracted a cult following. The brand boomed in 2014 with the introduction of their popular gold bullet in the shade 1995. As a successful beauty boss who’s created several winning brands such as Dial A Smile™ and Brow Bar To Go™ Gerard has acquired a loyal fan base of customers who support every new product launch and the brand has collaborated with some of the beauty industry's most vibrant beauty influencers.


What do you expect to be popular when it comes to beauty and makeup trends?

Entering 2021 in the era of COVID-19, I think we will be seeing more focus on natural, glowing skin, transfer proof lips and full healthy hair. I expect we will continue to see masks being part of the overall girly look along with colorful eye looks.


What are your favorite beauty tips or hacks?

My own hack for over-40-skin is using eyeshadow in lieu of eyeliner. This method minimizes the appearance of wrinkles immediately around the eye.

My favorite influencer hack is from VraamosMakeup. Cut your crease with a dab of vaseline on a Q-tip. This trick makes an insanely perfect and dramatic. You can then cover with Gerard Cosmetics Clean Canvas.


What are the colors or color palettes we should be on the lookout for? Spring to Fall?

Think mermaid colors like aqua, blue, mint, green, and gold.

Any exciting things you're working on this year? Collaborations, new products, etc.?

So much exciting stuff coming in 2021. We have some epic collaborations in the works. First, we will have a completely new line of products launching in a whole new category under our new brand within a brand, GC Love. This line has two products that have never been done before and we are beyond excited to bring them to you. Unfortunately I can’t divulge the details yet but they are truly life changing (when you see the products you will see why).


How have you been able to maintain success or pivot after such a unique year like 2020?

2020 was definitely a whole host of unexpected challenges for every business. Gerard Cosmetics has always been and will always be an escape from the harsh world through makeup. Never has it been more needed than in 2020. We have done the best we can to support our loving community. We are all in this together. From a business perspective I would say that during 2020 it was a daily endeavor and inspiration that my primary responsibility to put my team and our customers first.
