“In today’s society the biggest thing we struggle with is stress. Whether we place stress on ourselves or others place stress on us, it shortens our ability to live,” says Leadership in Heels Founder and CEO Scharrell Jackson. “Leadership in Heels aims to help men and women gain more fulfillment from life. This comes with juggling the many components of our lives successfully while striving to reach our individual tops. Our sold-out event was incredible and addressed just that. Attendees allowed themselves to be vulnerable. They spoke up. They listened.”
Below are key takeaways to handle shifts of getting to the top while striving to be the best of who you are:
Start your day focusing on the outcome you desire. Be intentional and expect what you want.
Accept that you cannot juggle everything and learn to prioritize tasks. Create a schedule and commit to that schedule.
When it comes to “people pleasing” or “people disappointing” measure your success only on things you can actually control.
Remember before you add something to your plate, you must remove something.
Practice self care and take the time to rest, shut down from work or stressors and do things that make you happy such as yoga or journaling. It is important to recognize reaching the “shut down” or “nothingness” is a process but can be achieved.
Remember you are courageous so be courageous enough to ask for help.
Don’t be afraid of greatness.
Make sure you have a tribe around you that will hold you up, support you and tell you the truth even when you don’t want to hear it.
Set boundaries and say no with grace.
